My first own and proper release, called Subliminal EP will be ready and downloadable this June at dirtybirdrexx.org. This post is all about it.
Subliminal EP consists of six tracks. Four of them have been available for listening for some time now at various sites, one is a brand new version and one is about to be finished this weekend.
The album starts out with the Land of the Midnight Sun - the most laid-back and chilly track of them all - a soft start to the journey. The second one is called Fingers Crossed, which originally was meant to be just some kind of a beat, but after throwing some vocal samples and altering the structure it fits to the album just as it is. After fingercrossing we move to L'Ignorance, propably the catchiest and pepedeluxiest tune on the album. The fourth path of the journey is the new one, called Mum's the Word. It's the only one that doesn't feature any vocals, and has a very bonoboish hook to carry the listener through. The fifth one is a Tender Offender, just an easy quickie. The final track is called Jane's Blues, and it's kind of a sequel to L'Ignorance - byt its moods and sounds at least.
I've been designing also the artwork myself. The ever so lovely blue rabbit is in charge, as the subliminal trip begins.
I wouldn't call Subliminal EP mind-blowing, neither it's innovative or alternative - it's just something to make the listener feel good, hopefully.

The Beginning
The fact that Dirtybird Rexx, a humble netlabel is taking the web 2.0 over site by site seems slow but unavoidable. At first there was MySpace, then dirtybirdrexx.tk - which later turned to the current dirtybirdrexx.org - then the Internet Archive, Last.fm, and now finally Blogger.
If any of you aren't still familiar with who we are and what we do, the most convenient way is to visit us at dirtybirdrexx.org. But in a nutshell: we are a netlabel, presenting uncommercial electronic music - mainly something to do with downtempo, trip-hop, breakbeat and electronica. All of our releases are available for free download at our site. Yes, free - and there's no strings attached. So why don't you go and take a listen already?
Since putting up our website last december, we've released two albums. Laineet's debut, Odotusta On EP is a blend of instrumental hip-hop and electronica, something to do with such artists as DJ Shadow, RJD2 and Aphilas. Our first compilation album, titled Birdcage, featured thirteen tracks from nine artists. This summer we are waiting for releases at least from the Slowdowns, Mr. Moods and Liquid Flesh - and there will also be a new split ep release series, first one featuring Laineet and the Slowdowns.
